Low effort, high impact ways to make your home feel refreshed for the season

Summer is right around the corner. Days are becoming longer and the air is becoming  warmer. Now is the perfect time to breathe new life into your home. This month we share low effort, high impact ways, to make your space feel refreshed for the upcoming season.

An easy place to start is with a basic cleaning and decluttering. Take an extra step and give often overlooked items a zhush. Rotate, vacuum and deodorize your mattress. De-streakify your windows.  Give your faux plants, baseboards, fans and light fixtures a good dusting. Deep clean carpets and rugs.

We highly recommend you take time to declutter. Clear off kitchen countertops, entrance drop zones and nightstands. Less clutter makes a space feel cleaner and more open. It will also make it easier to showcase decor items.

Here are 6 other ways to revitalize your home for the season.

Make ordinary details extraordinary. Whether it’s decanting your hand soap into pretty bottles, swapping out a lampshade or upgrading your cabinet hardware, items that you see and touch every day are good places to make an impact.

Bring elements from nature in. A vase of fresh flowers, botanical artwork, a bowlful of shells or floral bedding creates a seasonal sense of connection to the outdoors. Investing in a great floor plant in a show stopping basket or pot is an instant way to give your space a lift.

Swap out textiles. Replace heavy wool throws, dark cushions, or winter bedding with lighter breathable fabrics like linen and cotton. Updating accent pillows in brighter and “spring-inspired” colors and patterns (think blue/green/yellow, floral) will make your space feel refreshed.

Update accessories. Rotating artwork and adding decorative accents are foolproof ways to highlight seasonal themes and bring a sense of renewal to your space. Swap in a lighter table runner, new dish towels or a spring-themed vignette (we personally love birds and their nests). Switch out heavy winter scented pine and cinnamon candles and diffusers for light, floral, lavender or citrus fragrances.

Rearrange furniture. Simply moving a chair or a mirror can make a room feel new.

Power up your entry.  A new mat with a spring pattern or a new coat of paint on a door is an immediate seasonal upgrade to your entryway. Can you add a seasonal wreath or potted plant to the front door experience?
